Ursula by rhyFlower Knits | Ursula takes its inspiration from the sea witch herself from The Little Mermaid. Cables and eyelets join forces to create a unique scale-like texture. The cable texture then develops into a glorious lacework motif that reminds me of waves crashing upon the shore - paired with the Under the Sea colorway from Ancient Arts Yarns the lacework looks like seafoam as it floats back out to sea. This shawl pattern shines well with solid, semi-solid, or lightly-variegated/speckled yarns. Picking an appropriate yarn for this project will ensure you don't lose the fun texture achieved in the first section, nor have a yarn that distracts from the lovely lacework you'll work on. Worked flat, Ursula contains written directions and charts. A handy-dandy progress tracker is included to help you with your rows and stitch counts. Yardage for each section is given should you wish to turn this into a scrappy project!

Gauge: 20.5 stitches by 32 rows in stockinette = 4” / 10 cm, after blocking. While gauge is not important, as the fit is not crucial, changes in gauge will result in size differences and the yardage required to complete the project.

Finished Measurements: Approximately 72 [84]” / 183 [214] cm across the wingspan, 20 [31]” / 51 [79] cm deep, after blocking. Pattern sample is shown in the large size.

Materials Used: 426 [840] yds / 390 [768] m fingering weight yarn, tapestry needle, cable needle, stitch markers (optional)

Needle Size: US 6 (4 mm) 40” (100 cm) circular needles, or size required to obtain gauge

Pattern Includes: Written Instructions, Charts & Schematic

Skill Level: Intermediate

Other Details: This triangular-shaped shawl is worked along the bias, starting at one corner and slowly increasing 3 stitches every 4 rows, giving it that luscious shape. There are 2 sizes written in the pattern, however, this pattern is quite easy to adjust if you’d prefer to make it even bigger (I’ve included modification notes to help with that)!
