Short Description: This stitch pattern reminded me of blackberries when I knit it this summer. And as fall approached, the apple farms still had their blackberry pies for sale and I couldn’t resist using the pattern again for this cowl and hat set. Perfect accessories for those transitional seasons!
Gauge: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4” over st st for both hat and cowl
Finished Measurements: "8 ½” width, 7 ¼” height for beanie style hat 8 ½” width, 11” height for slouchy style hat 10” width, 9” height for cowl
Materials Used: ~130 (180-190) yards of heavy worsted weight/aran weight yarn for the hat and 180 yards of heavy worsted weight/aran weight yarn for the cowl such as Fyberspates Scrumptious Aran, The Plucky Knitter Primo Aran, Malabrigo Yarn Rios
Needle Size:
- Size US 7 (4.5mm) or size to obtain gauge, either DPNs or circular needles for both hat and cowl
- Size US 6 (4.0 mm) or one size smaller than needle used to obtain gauge for hat
Pattern Includes: Instructions are written for a hat and cowl that are worked in the round. The hat is sized for either a beanie style fit or a slouchy fit. Charts are provided on the last page.
