Short Description: A rounded modular cabled shawl in either a fully cabled aran weight version, or a simpler cable-edged variation for any weight yarn. Both versions are custom-sizable; both are meant to use one color for the body and a contrasting color for the outer edging.
Gauge: fully cabled shawl: 3.25 stitches per inch; simple variation: any gauge
Finished Measurements: small{medium, large} for fully cabled: approx 52{60, 68} inches / 132{152, 172} cm wide, 12{16, 20} inches / 30{40, 50} cm high; for simple variation: 45{55, 65} inches / 115{140, 165} cm wide, 9{11, 13} inches / 23{28, 33} cm high.
Materials Used: fully cabled: aran weight yarn - approx 350{500, 650} yards / 320{460, 600} meters in main color, 90{120, 150} yards / 80{110, 140} meters in contrasting edge color; simple variation: enough yarn in any weight, mostly in main color, approx 1 skein worth in contrasting edge color yarn
Needle Size: fully cabled: US 10 / 6mm long circular needle; simple variation: needles sized to match yarn - a long circular
Pattern Includes: sizing/shape details for customization, construction diagrams, pattern versions written, all cables charted, edge cables also written
Skill Level: intermediate
Other Details: Sample of any-gauge version is in worsted weight; it works best with weights ranging around DK to bulky, so the cables show well. The construction (of both versions) is all modular, with short rows, no seaming or picked up stitches, and the body section can be worked right up until main yarn color runs out, for maximum yarn usage.
